There was not a big ceremony Wednesday in Leesburg for National Signing Day, but two Lee County seniors, Devin Collier and Leroy Jackson, instead chose to sign their national letters of intent at home with their families.

Collier, who played offense, defense, and special teams for the Trojans, signed to play at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro.

Leroy Jackson, a defensive lineman who led the team in sacks, signed to play at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC.

“I’m really proud of these for the job they did for us,” said Lee County head football coach Dean Fabrizio. “They did not excel only on the football field but also in the classroom. Both schools are getting excellent players.”

More Lee County seniors are expected to make decisions for the February signing date.
