Six Albany Sherwood Christian Eagles earn All-State recognition

ALBANY — Six Sherwood Christian Academy Eagles have earned All-State recognition after leading their team to the state championship game for the second straight season. Quarterback Tripp Roberts, running back Easton Enfinger, linebacker/running back Caleb Clemans, linebacker/fullback Bill Dunwoody, wide receiver/cornerback Qwinton Murray, and lineman Jude Peavey all earned accolades from GAPPS after the team won their region and went undefeated through the season until the state championship game. The Eagles fell to Unity Christian in the state finals.

“A true leader and a really good quarterback,” head football coach Doug Eason said of Roberts. Roberts completed 109 or 183 passes for 2,122 yards with 35 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also rushed for 493 yards and 10 touchdowns.

“Enfinger is small but quick and has incredible vision and footwork,” said Eason. The senior runner carried 182 times for 1667 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also caught 36 passes for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns.

“I believe Clemans was the best all-around athlete in GAPPS,” said Eason. On defense, he grabbed 69 tackles with six sacks and three interceptions. On offense, he ran for 461 yards with seven touchdowns on 22 carries and caught nine passes for 362 yards and three touchdowns. He also returned four kickoffs and three punts for touchdowns.

“Dunwoody did a great job on offense and defense,” said Eason. “He was asked to do a little bit of everything. On defense, he recorded 39 tackles with three interceptions and a touchdown. On offense, he had three touchdowns rushing and seven touchdowns receiving.

Murray caught 49 passes for 1,021 yards and 13 touchdowns and pulled down six interceptions on defense. “He has great ball skills on both sides of the ball,” said Eason.

“Peavey is a strong player with a great motor,” said Eason. He is a difference-maker on both sides of the ball.” Peavey grabbed 23 tackles during the season.

The Eagles will compete in the GIAA Class AA next season.
