Terrell Academy grad Jared Donalson makes history in big senior season at Georgia Southwestern

Terrell Academy grad Jared Donalson made Georgia Southwestern history in 2022, his redshirt senior season at the Americus school.

The right-handed pitcher was the first Georgia Southwestern player to earn first-team All-American honors in baseball during the program’s NCAA era, picking up first-team recognition from the National College Baseball Writers Association. It capped a season that also saw Donalson named as Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year, first-team all-conference, NCBWA Southeast Pitcher of the Year, NCBWA All-Region, ABCA Southeast All-Region first team and ABCA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Year.

Donalson had a 1.81 ERA with 121 strikeouts in 99 1/3 innings this past season, and held opponents to a .189 batting average. He had a 10-3 record, and finished his season fourth in the nation in strikeouts, wins and fifth in ERA. He led the Peach Belt in strikeouts, ERA, opposing batting average and wins. He won three Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week awards in a row and two Region Pitcher of the Week awards.

Donalson is now in Savannah, where he is currently a starting pitcher for the Savannah Bananas in the Coastal Plains League.
