LEESBURG – Lee County football has announced the 2024 football season and it is a tough one. There will be high expectations for the Trojans with a talented group returning to the gridiron, including running back Ousmane Kromah and quarterback Weston Bryan who will be seniors, but serious challenges do await.

“We are excited about our schedule for 2024,” said Lee County head coach Dean Fabrizio. “We have several games that will be among the top in the state and nation and we should be playing in front of some huge crowds with a great atmosphere.

The recent changes in region alignments will make region competition even more challenging for the Trojans. The region includes Class 6A state champion Thomas County Central and 5A state champion Coffee, plus tough Houston County, Northside Warner Robins and Veterans teams.

The season will begin with a scrimmage against Class AAA powerhouse Carver of Columbus in Columbus on August 9th. The season’s first actual game will be the following Friday night with the always-tough Warner Robins Demons coming to Leesburg. Hapeville Charter will follow with a game in Leesburg on August 23 before the Trojans end August with a trip to Tift County on August 30th. Wakevia, Florida will visit Leesburg on September 6th, and then the Trojans travel to Moultrie to take on the highly-rated Colquitt County Packers on Friday the 13th.

After an open week on September 20th, the region competition begins when the Trojans host state champion Thomas County Central and then host state champion Coffee on September 27th. Lee County will then have another bye week and then two games in middle Georgia when they travel to Veterans High School and then Northside Warner Robins. The Trojans will close the regular season and celebrate Senior Night at home on November 1st against Houston County.
