SYLVESTER — Two seniors who led the Worth County Ram baseball team to the Elite Eight in the Class AA GHSA playoffs signed letters of intent to play college baseball Tuesday in Sylvester.

Owen Fletcher and Luke Smith were integral players for the Rams this season.

Fletcher started all 117 games he played in his four years at Worth County. He played third base, second base and pitched. He earned first team All-Region and was selected to the SW All-State team. In his senior season, he compiled a .408 batting average with 40 hits total, including 12 doubles. He signed to play college baseball at Thomas University in Thomasville.

Smith, the son of head coach Will Smith, was often the coach on the field for the Rams and played the hot corner third base as well as second base when Fletcher was on the mound. He compiled a .927 fielding percentage with only four errors all season. He put together a .356 batting average during the regular season and was named All-Region second team. Smith will play baseball at Brewton-Parker College in Mount Vernon.
